If you have a junk car sitting in your driveway, garage, or yard, you should know that the process of getting cash for this unwanted vehicle can be much easier than you think. In fact, you can easily transform your junk car into some cold hard cash by simply following the three easy steps outlined below.

Step #1: Contact Local Salvage Yards

Local salvage yards are a great place to sell your junk car since many of these businesses routinely offer cash for junk cars. In order to ensure you are getting the best possible price for your old vehicle, you will want to contact a few different salvage yards before accepting a specific offer. When contacting these salvage yards, you will need to be ready to answer some rather basic questions regarding the vehicle you wish to sell. For instance, you will need to be able to tell them the make and model of the vehicle, as well as provide them with information regarding any parts that may have already been removed from the vehicle. Many salvage yards will also inquire about any aftermarket parts that have been added to the vehicle which may ultimately increase the vehicle's value. 

Step #2: Have Your Vehicle Towed To The Salvage Yard

Once you have chosen which salvage yard you want to sell your junk car to, you will need to take care of getting this vehicle to the buyer. If the vehicle still runs, you may wish to transport the vehicle yourself. However, if the vehicle must be towed to the salvage yard, you should know that many junkyards will offer you free towing services as long as you are selling them your vehicle. In some cases, you will receive a slightly lower payment if you choose to take advantage of these free towing services. Consequently, it may be in your best interest to take the vehicle to them when possible. 

Step #3: Complete The Necessary Paperwork And Receive Payment

Once you have either taken your vehicle to the salvage yard or had a tow truck dispatched to your location to pick up the vehicle, you will need to complete a small amount of paperwork in order to finalize the sale. If you have the title for the vehicle you are selling, you will need to complete the section on the back that transfers ownership of the vehicle. If you do not have the title in hand, you will need to complete a bill of sale and an affidavit of ownership, which accomplishes this same goal of transferring ownership. Once this paperwork is complete, you will receive your cash payment.
